Service Opportunities

At Wesley we believe that we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We offer service opportunities to provide ways for students to serve on campus, in the community, nationally, and internationally.  Email: wesleyofkalamazoo@gmail.com to get involved!

Fall Service Opportunity

The Fall Service Opportunity is still up in the air. Make sure to check back in September to see what the Wesley Foundation of Kalamazoo has decided to do for the Fall Service Opportunity!

Alternative Spring Break Trip (March 3-10, 2018)

Wesley Worship Offerings

Each month the offering is designated for a service or mission. October’s offering is going to Movimiento Cosecha-Kalamazoo, a non-violent civil rights movement that is fighting for dignity, respect, and permanent protection for all 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States.

Kalamazoo Free Store

Located in the basement of Sunnyside United Methodist Church, the Kalamazoo Free Store is a thrift store where everything is free, customers are welcome to volunteer, and volunteers are welcome to become customers. The store needs volunteers on Tuesday nights from 5-8. Check out the Free Store website for more information.

Sankofa Trip (April 28-May 6, 2018)

The Sankofa trip is a trip for those looking to broaden their education in anti-racism and oppression training. Sankofa, which is a word derived from Ghana, is translated to “Go back and get it.” On the Sankofa Trip, we visit historical sites of racism and oppression, such as the Cahokia Mounds outside St. Louis, the Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Hotel, and the Whitney Plantation outside of New Orleans. We also meet with influential people in various communities and groups such as Christie Huck, the Executive Director of City Garden Montessori and Trina Dyan Clark James, a board member of Forward Through Ferguson. For more information about the Sankofa Trip, email Colin
