Sankofa Trip (April 28-May 6, 2018)
The Sankofa trip is a trip for those looking to broaden their education in anti-racism and oppression training. Sankofa, which is a word derived from Ghana, is translated to “Go back and get it.” On the Sankofa Trip, we visit historical sites of racism and oppression, such as the Cahokia Mounds outside St. Louis, the Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Hotel, and the Whitney Plantation outside of New Orleans. We also meet with influential people in various communities and groups such as Christie Huck, the Executive Director of City Garden Montessori and Trina Dyan Clark James, a board member of Forward Through Ferguson. For more information about the Sankofa Trip, email Lisa.
